Since 2011 the Canton Film Festival has been a place for regional, independent filmmakers to showcase their work. The goal with the festival has been to provide an encouraging, accessible point for newcomers to interact with industry veterans and showcase their work through our yearly contest. The festival operates on a shoestring budget, balancing local print promotion with targeted social media placements to drive interest in the contest. I've volunteered as the art director every year since it's inception and it's been a fantastic learning experience.
